One of the great advantages of aluminium doors and windows is that they require very little maintenance. However, a simple regular cleaning routine will keep them looking great for decades.
Monthly Cleaning
Wipe down the frames with a soft cloth dampened with mild soapy water. Rinse with clean water and dry with a soft cloth. Never use abrasive cleaners or pads as these can scratch the powder coat finish.
Glass Cleaning
Clean glass with a quality window cleaner and a squeegee. For stubborn marks, a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water works well.
Lubrication
Sliding doors and windows should have their tracks cleaned and lightly lubricated with a silicone spray every 6 months. Hinges on casement windows and doors should be lubricated annually.
Seals and Weatherstripping
Inspect rubber seals and weatherstripping annually. Replace if cracked or damaged to maintain weathertightness and acoustic performance.
